Baked Apples

 

Makes 2 servings

  • 4 organic apples (any kind you like) cores removed
  • Handful organic raisins
  • 1 Tablespoon pastured butter
  • 1 Tablespoon black cherry syrup (dynamic health brand) OR 1 T maple syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans, slivered almonds, or walnuts

Dash each cinnamon and ground clove. Optional spices: ginger, nutmeg, mace.

Pre-heat oven to 375°, slice the very bottom off of each apple so they sit in a glass casserole dish, place raisins, nuts, and syrup in center of each apple, sprinkle with spices, dot with butter. Pour water into bottom of dish. Place in oven and baste ever 2o minutes until done, about 40 minutes to 1 hour until fork tender. You will also notice the skin will split- this is a sign of doneness.
